Just to the north of Big Water is the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. This 1.9 million acre monument sports many attractions including The Wahweap Hoodoos, Grosvenor Arch, and many slot canyons. It is administered by the BLM.

To the east of Big Water is Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (Lake Powell). Glen Canyon NRA is a recreation area encompassing 1.2 million acres. It contains the most popular attraction in the area, Lake Powell. The lake makes up only 13% of the park.

To the south of Big Water is Vermilion Cliffs National Monument. This is a very remote 294,000 acre national monument that sports amazing attractions such as Buckskin Gulch and The Wave. Administered by the BLM.

Other parks such as Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, and Grand Canyon National Park, are a few hour drive from Big Water.
